Tougan Soup


Ingredients:

  • Tougan 2 pounds

  • Onion 1

  • Ground meat 1 pound

  • Kabocha 1/4

  • Mushroom (any kind) 1 cup

  • Ginger some. (fresh or powder)

  • Bay leaf

  • Potato starch (katakuriko). 2 tbsp


Directions;

  1. Chop onion into fine pieces, and sautee with oil

  2. Add ground meat, ginger, and sautee more

  3. Add other vegetables (mushroom, kabocha...)

  4. Add a bay leaf and water enough to cover the ingredients and boil for a while

  5. Add consome, salt, pepper and simmer

  6. Add tougan (cut in a bite size cutes) toward the end

  7. Adjust the flavor (soup stock, salt, pepper, etc...)

  8. Mix potato starch with a little water, and pour in the soup and stir


Note:

  • Tougan cooks fast and will melt if cooked long

  • Tougan can be cut in cubes and freeze - ready to put in soup frozen

  • Add any vegetables and meat of your pick
