The word "Shokutaku" means "dining table" in Japanese.  I wanted to create a record for myself and my daughters to remember what has been appearing on our dining table mainly in the U.S. since 1995.   Each recipe and photo brings back memories of precious moments we spent sharing a meal together.

It contains mainly washoku (Japanese food) made with whatever ingredients were available at the time, although I feature other international and local dishes inspired while traveling, talking to family and friends, looking up new recipes, etc.

The recipes are kept simple and broad rather than exact. For reference, I usually use a cup (U.S. size 240cc, Japanese size 200cc) and measuring spoon rather than measuring with a scale.
