Bamboo Shoot (Takenoko)

How to prepare. Common in May. Usually thin type of bamboo shoot are in the US.



How to prepare

  1. Remove the thick outer layers of skin, leaving some of them

  2. Put the bamboo shoots in the pan boil from water*, about 10 minutes after boiling (*You can add a pinch of rice grains to remove the sharpness.)

  3. Remove the remaining thick skin

  4. Cut in bulk, soak in water. Can keep in the refrigerator up to several days


For Nimono, Rice, Tempura ...
