Stuffed Bean Curd

Stuffed ground meat inside bean curd (Age, Aburaage) = deep-fried tofu pouches made from soybeans




Ingredients

  • Age

  • Ground meat

  • Green onion, ginger, etc.

  • Salt & pepper

  • Dashi soup

  • String or toothpicks


Directions

  1. Pour hot water over age (to remove the extra oil)

  2. Cut age into halves and squeeze lightly

  3. Mix gound meat, chopped green onion, ginger, salt & pepper, etc

  4. Inset the meat mixture into age, and close the opening with toothpicks or strings

  5. Boil dashi soup (mentsuyu or mixture of dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sake and water) and cook 4

  6. Looks good if you remove the toothpicks/strings, and replace with strips of vegetable
