Pea Rice

With fresh peas of spring



Ingredients

  • Green Peas

  • Rice 2 cups

  • Kombu 1 sheet or kombucha powder (optional)

  • Salt

  • Sake


Directions

  1. Take out the peas from the shells and rinse

  2. Boil water, add some salt, add peas

  3. Simmer for 3 minutes and let it cool down as is in a pot (to prevent wrinkling)

  4. In a rice cooker, add a sheet of kombu (or some kombucha powder) on top of rice*

  5. Add salt and sake, and cook as usual

  6. When the rice is done, put some peas on top of rice in the rice cooker and leave it for a while, then mix with rice


Note

  • *You can use the water soaked the peas for cooking rice in a rice cooker for better flavor

  • Remaining of the peas could be saved in the refrigerator with soaked water, or just freeze the peas without water
