Ohagi (Botamochi)

Sweet rice wrapped in red bean paste



Ingredients

  • Sweet rice 4

  • Regular rice 1

  • Red bean paste

  • Sugar


Directions

  1. Combine both rice, add a little sugar, and cook in a rice cooker

  2. Roll rice into small balls and wrap with red bean paste


Notes

  • Sweet rice : Regular rice = 4 : 1

  • Try to consume on the same day you make

  • Homemade red bean paste (anko) with less sugar

  • Offered to one’s ancestors and eaten during obon, the spring and autumn equinoxes
