Igamushi

Steamed meatballs with sweet rice




Ingredients

  • Sweet rice 360 cc

  • Ground meat about 1 lb

  • Egg 1

  • Flour or starch 1-2 tbsp

  • Green onion, dry shiitake mushroom, ginger, etc..


Directions

  1. Soak sweet rice in water over one hour. (Add a drop of food color or beet juice to make pink ones)

  2. Drain and dry the rice

  3. Mix ground meat and chopped vegetables, and add salt & pepper

  4. Add egg and/or flour and mx well

  5. Shape into meat balls

  6. Spread the rice on a plate, and roll the meat balls so the rice sticks on the surface

  7. Steam for about 20- 30 minutes

  8. Serve with the favorite sauce (ponzu, mustard and soy sauce, etc..)


Note

  • Iga = chestnut bur Mushi = stemed
