Bukkake Udon

Great in summer - cold udon noodle



Ingredients

  • Boiled and cooled udon noodle

  • Toppings (ume, shiso, grated daikon radish, ginger, katsuobushi flakes, lime or lemon juice, sesame, etc.)

  • Sauce of your pick (sesame sauce, ponzu, cold udon soup, etc)


Directions

  1. Place the udon and toppings in a bowl

  2. Pour (splash) or dip in your favorite sauce and mix


Note

  • Bukkake is a Japanese word that means “splash,” and in the context of udon it's used to describe a style where a comparatively small amount of broth is splashed over the noodles after they're placed in the bowl.

  • Once tasted this amazing bukkake udon in Kagawa prefecture - a famous place for chewy sanuki udon. Trying to recall and reproduce at home.
