Simmered Kabocha

simmered Japanese squash (pumpkin)

Ingredients

  • Kabocha

  • Dashi soup (Mentsuyu or dashi powder, mirin, sake, soy sauce)


Directions

  1. Remove the seeds and cut kabocha into a bite size

  2. *Mentori, if desired

  3. Heat up the pan and sautee kabocha briefly

  4. Add dashi soup and simmer on low heat with a cover on


Note

  • Mentori = Smooth the edge before cooking. If the pieces have sharp edge then they are likely to break into pieces during the cooking process (from bumping into each other). https://www.justonecookbook.com/mentori/

  • Cooking too long will collapse the shape
