Kagoshima Ken, Yakushima
Anbo is the second largest village settlement on Yakushima Island. Very peaceful and quiet port, located on the eastern part of Yakushima Island. Small but cozy restaurants, bakery, etc. Compared to Miyanoura (the main port), Anbo is closer to the starting point of the Jomonsugi trail. Stayed at Yakushima Sansou inn. (January 2024)
Famous female writer, Fumiko Hayashi (1903 - 1951) favored this inn and some of her major works including "Ukigumo (Floating Clouds)" was written here.
The owner of the inn, Kazufumi Hirata, achieved the guiness record of walking through all 100 famous mountains in Japan in 66 days, the shortest period.
