Futami Okitama Shrine is dedicated to the deity Sarutahiko Okami, known for blessings in matchmaking, marital harmony, and traffic safety. Many travelers know this spot for its view of the iconic Husband and Wife Rocks (Meoto Iwa) ; a 9-meter-tall male rock and a 4-meter-tall female rock found side by side when looking out from the shrine approach.

Also, many frog figurines called "Futami Frogs" are dedicated in the shrine grounds, which are believed to bring good luck such as safe return, return of lent items, and return of youth, etc. The frogs are messengers of the deity, Sarutahiko, and are believed to bring good luck such as safe return, return of borrowed items, and return of youth.
