The cranes (Nabe-zuru, Hooded crane) arrive in late October every year, spend the winter in Yashiro, and migrate to Siberia in early March of the following year.
Over 300 cranes used to come, but the number has decreased and only witnessed 4 in February, 2023. My father used to take me here when I was small. Yashiro, Izumi (Kagoshima) and Kushiro (Hokkaido) are the only three locations in Japan cranes arrive.
