Gorgeous Nio statues (guardians of the Buddha). Beautiful stone steps leading to the temple up the hill.
According to the temple records, it was founded in 806 as a temple dedicated to Senjukannon Bosatsu Buddha statue for Shingonshu school, and known as the oldest temple in Yamaguchi basin. It was originally a Tendaishu school's temple and converted to Shingonshu. Kannondo was constructed by Ouchi Masahiro in 1493. The architecture style and braiding well reflects the Zen style in Muromachi period. Designated as a prefectural important property in 1967.
