Takihara, Mie ken

January, 2024

This is one of the most impressive places I visited.

Takiharamiya Shrine is an important shrine that conveys Japanese spirituality and the traditions of Ise Grand Shrine against the backdrop of rich nature and deep history. As a branch shrine of the Inner Shrine (Kotaijingu), and together with Takiharagamamiya Shrine, it symbolizes the profound spirit of Ise Grand Shrine by enshrining the peaceful and violent spirit of Amaterasu Omikami. Takiharamiya Shrine's special topography has made it the prototype for the Inner Shrine, and it has played the role of a sacred place. Its zero magnetic field characteristics and the natural environment with many giant trees surrounding it continue to be loved by people seeking purification of body and mind and spiritual refreshment.

Takihara Shrine and its affiliated shrines continue to preserve the traditions of Ise Shrine through the Shikinen Sengu ceremony, which is held once every 20 years.
