#171 Tokyo Station

Tokyo, Marunouchi

There are reliefs of the zodiac signs embedded in the ceiling of the dome at the Marunouchi Kitaguchi entrance, but there were supposed to be 12, but there are only 8. 4 signs are missing: rat, rabbit, horse, and rooster. In terms of orientation, it is exactly north, south, east and west. Later on, they were discovered to have been located in Takeo Onsen in Saga Prefecture, far away from Tokyo.

The designer of Tokyo Station was Kingo Tatsuno (1854-1919), who is said to be the father of modern architecture. He is originally from Saga Prefecture, and he also designed "Takeo Onsen Romon" in Takeo Onsen, Saga. It has a bizarre design reminiscent of Ryugu Castle, and is a nationally designated important cultural property.
