Yanai shi, Yamaguchi Ken
The Fuchinsai Festival, which has been held for nearly 200 years to pray for a harvest. Usually held on the last Saturday in August at Ootarashihime Hachimangu (大帯姫八幡宮). A large number of ondo masters, taiko drummers, and dancers from neighboring towns participate in the festival, reviving the liveliness of the festival. Since Hizumi area used to belong to Iwakuni clan, the festival includes Iwakuni bon dance. In the center of the wide precincts, the largest scale yagura in Yamaguchi Prefecture, decorated with strips of paper and five-colored tapes, is installed.
