Otamane Shrine, which is popularly known as the Myojin of Seto, is the first shrine on Suo Oshima that enshrines Otamaruwake no Mikoto, according to a myth about the creation of the country in the Kojiki. There is a memorial tower for Hannyahime, the main character of the tragic love legend.
Start from two torii by the shore, and walk up the path to the main shrine and Hannyahime sha. Later, it was found that this Otamaruwake is my guardian God enshrined at this Otamane Shrine.
Seto Park is a park developed at the foot of Iinoyama. At the top of the mountain, you can see Oshima Ohashi Bridge and Seto Park, and in the spring it is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot. In addition, in the park, there are bronze statues built to convey to future generations the great achievements of then-Prime Minister Eisaku Sato and Yamaguchi Governor Masayuki Hashimoto, who contributed to the Oshima Ohashi bridge. Azaleas, the town flower, are planted.
The Uchu Zakura (space cherry blossom) tree was planted in Seto Park on February 1st, 2020. A parent tree of this cherry tree sprouted from the seeds that returned to the ground after staying on the International Space Station for eight months on the space shuttle since 2008.
