Shibamata area is known for "Otoko wa Tsurai yo" - a Japanese film series starring Kiyoshi Atsumi as Tora-san, a kind-hearted vagabond who is always unlucky in love. Statues of Tora-san and his decent sister, Sakura near the station. Tora-san's home is a wagashi store "Toraya" with famous "kusa dango".
