#105 Megane Bashi

Nagasaki Shi, Nagasaki Ken

Said to be one of the oldest stone arched bridges in Japan, Meganebashi (Spectacles Bridge) stretches across Nakashima River. Originally, built in Nagasaki in 1634 by the Chinese monk Mokusunyoujo who was in the second generation of Chinese monks living at Kofukuji Temple. Although floodwaters severely damaged the bridge in a 1982 disaster, it was rebuilt using the same stones. (December, 2017 with my older daughter)
